CM Punk returned to pro wrestling and it was huge moment for AEW, and likely the most historic moment in the company’s history. The locker room was just as excited to see the Second City Savior in an AEW ring.

During the Road To Dynamite, Tony Schiavone spoke about CM Punk’s big Rampage The First Dance debut. He said that everyone hit Punk with fist bumps and there was a ton of excitement. When it came to Punk’s epic promo, it was also a sellout at the monitors backstage.

“He walks out of the go-position, everybody kind of bumps fists, we’re all excited, Tony’s excited and then, everybody starts to come out to the go-position because we had a monitor out there. I’m telling you, Kenny [Omega] was out there, The Young Bucks, everybody.”

“They didn’t want to sit in the back and watch it, they wanted to come out right behind the curtain and feel it, right? I’m going to be honest with you. It was one of those from the heart, just ass kickin’ moment, it just was. So he did it and came back and people were so excited. Britt [Baker] was like beside herself that he mentioned her name.”

We’ll have to see what kind of history CM Punk can make next in AEW. He obviously has a lot of ground to cover, but the good news is that he’s not going away.

As Ringside News exclusively reported, CM Punk is going to wrestle 10 to 12 matches a year. He could always elect to work more often, but those matches will certainly do a lot to help bring even more eyeballs to AEW’s product.
