Eric Bischoff is a veteran in the pro wrestling business and is undoubtedly one of the greatest minds to have ever worked in it. He is well aware of the changing landscape of pro wrestling as well. He also added that WWE provided AEW with golden opportunity after recent releases. It seems he has a high opinion about CM Punk’s AEW debut.

CM Punk sent shockwaves across the pro wrestling world after he made his debut on last week’s AEW Rampage: The First Dance. He was in talks with AEW for quite long time as well.

CM Punk’s debut in AEW took the world by storm and he has singlehandedly become the most talked-about pro wrestler on the planet right now. This certainly pleased Mick Foley.

While speaking on the 83 Weeks Podcast, Eric Bischoff talked about CM Punk’s AEW debut and stated that AEW signing CM Punk will force WWE to change.

“And I’m actually kind of happy for WWE because I think they need a kick in the ass, something has to change there. Sometimes pressure is the kind of motivation that works best. Let’s hope this is the beginning of a reemergence if you will of what we experienced in the Monday Night Wars. AEW isn’t going head-to-head, it’s not quite the same thing, but at this point with the kind of buzz that you had on Friday and what I did see over the weekend on social media, it may be well on our way. I hope that’s the case.”

We will have to wait and see if WWE will decide to change up their product to counteract CM Punk’s massive signing. Odds are, WWE won’t pay heed to what AEW will do.
