WWE is going through some changes, especially when it comes to the NXT brand. Vince McMahon’s new vision entails signing bigger guys who are under thirty as they continue their quest to build for the future. This environment led Triple H to take blame for losing the Wednesday Night Wars, and The Game wasn’t even informed about the recent mass releases to the black and gold brand until cuts already started.

Vince McMahon made the call to fire a dozen wrestlers and one referee from the NXT brand last week. More cuts could be coming, and that led to high tensions in the company’s developmental brand.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that one source noted NXT needed to “beat the independent” out of freshly signed Superstars. Also, the main roster was then tasked to “beat the NXT” out of new call-ups to RAW and SmackDown.

One person noted the mindset is that when WWE would sig independent talent, they would first have to beat “the independent” out of them when it came to work style, but then when in the main roster, they had to beat “the NXT” out of them.

It was also noted that the “toxicity” later led to Karrion Kross losing two matches on the main roster as NXT Champion. Dakota Kai, who is #1 contender for the NXT Women’s Title, also reportedly lost to Aliyah on Main Event for that same reason.
