Matt Riddle is most certainly one of the most talented in-ring competitors in WWE right now, after transitioning from the world of MMA to the pro wrestling world.

Matt Riddle’s character has certainly gotten over with fans thanks to his comedic timing and generally cool attitude while still being that of a stoner character. There was a chance Kurt Angle was going to be his manager last year.

Unfortunately, that did not end up happening and Kurt Angle would explain why he turned down the offer. While speaking to Sony Sports India, Matt Riddle talked about what it was like interacting with Kurt Angle and added that it would have been cool for him to have Kurt Angle as his manager. At least NXT got Angle to come back and referee the Fight Pit match.

“For him to go out of his way and make that announcement, referee that match, and trust me, there’s no way [to get] in the Fight Pit match other than climbing over the cage and everything else. Kurt climbed in that cage for me to do the match. I appreciate everything Kurt’s done. There was a rumor that he was gonna be my manager and I was like Oh that would have been cool [to have] Kurt as my manager. Maybe we could have wrestled at some point. But, at the same time, you can’t ask for much more. The guy gave me my main roster introduction and he was part of my last match in NXT. So hats off to Kurt. He’s a good guy.”

The WWE Hall of Famer actually turned down an opportunity to be Riddle’s manager. Triple H offered the gig to him, but he declined the opportunity.

Kurt Angle is currently enjoying life after retirement while Matt Riddle is part of Team RKBro. That tag team seems to be up in the air after Orton nailed Riddle with an RKO, but maybe that’s just The Viper’s way of saying he likes the King of Bros. We certainly wonder how Kurt Angle would have faired as Matt Riddle’s manager, all things considered.
