WWE has been releasing talent left and right. As WWE just released 12 NXT superstars, many of whom have reacted to the unfortunate news, superstars from other promotions have been taking note on the company’s behavior.

AEW star Joey Janela seems to be personally very much against the idea of releasing such a vast range of talent off their developmental roster, and called it “absolutely embarrassing” in a tweet.

Absolutely embarrassing…

Janela’s criticism of the company doesn’t just spring out of nowhere. He is acquainted with many of the wrestlers released from NXT, namely Ari Sterling, Bronson Reed and Jake Atlas.

As Sterling has been part of a tag team with Janela at the 2019 Battle of Los Angeles in PWG, they’ve also come toe-to-toe against each other at GCW, when Sterling was known as Alex Zayne.

Both Janela and Atlas were part of the GCW and PWG rosters, they never went against each other in the ring. Bronson Reeds took on Janela at the PWG All Star Weekend 14 in 2019, under his former moniker, Jonah Rock. Janela wished the star good luck after Reed announced his release from NXT.

How many of the recent NXT releases will end up in AEW? Sound off in the comments!
