Jon Moxley made his debut at AEW Double Or Nothing 2019 and since then he’s had a terrific time in AEW, becoming the AEW World Champion and being involved in high-profile matches.

On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley cut a scathing promo on NJPW star Hiroshi Tanahashi after it was announced that Tanahashi will be challenging Lance Archer for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Jon Moxley could be facing off against a top NJPW star at AEW All Out and that star might be Hiroshi Tanahashi, with the promo being the first hint of their possible match.

“What I do know is that fairly recently, at 4am, Jon Moxley had a discussion – I don’t know the night, I think it was the night of the taping – with Tony Khan, and he had an idea for a match which I believe is for the September 5 pay-per-view. And Tony Khan liked the idea. I knew it was a top New Japan wrestler, I didn’t know the name of who it was, but I know about the discussion.”

With Tanahashi set to come to Los Angeles for his title match against Lance Archer, he might be staying longer for his possible match against Jon Moxley. We will have to wait and see if Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi do face off against each other at AEW All Out on September 5th.
