AEW has a plan for their future, but some things are set in stone far in advance. FTR and Proud n Powerful are set to throw down on Dynamite, and that match has been on the plan for Charlotte for a long time.

FTR is all about history and they obviously wanted to bring a barnburner of a match to Charlotte. Santana and Ortiz will also make fine opponents to accomplish that feat.

According to Fightful Select, FTR’s match against Santana & Ortiz is something that AEW has been working toward since May. They knew that those two team would finally square off in Charlotte on a big stage.

This specific matchup has been slated and on the billing for the Charlotte Dynamite since at least mid-May, highlighting the long-term planning of a lot of AEW’s booking.

It was also reported that “in early 2020” some matches and feuds were booked months in advance, but the pandemic changed up a lot of things. It was also reported that a “singles program is already tentatively set for the fall” for those two teams. If you like the idea of FTR battling with Santana and Ortiz then you’re in luck.
