AEW has a much different operation than WWE, and unlike Vince McMahon’s company they can’t go a night without directly mentioning the competition. Tony Khan appeared after Dynamite this week to thank the Dallas fans. He didn’t mention “the competition” like others have called out WWE as “the other place,” but he did say “Performance Center.”

In the footage below, Tony Khan told the Dallas crowd that “we don’t have a Performance Center in AEW, this is our Performance Center.” He was making direct reference to the matches that they had planned for AEW Dark: Elevation.

This little mention of WWE wasn’t as brazen as what Eddie Kingston said at Daily’s Place a few weeks ago. It is still notable, because it is the company’s President. It would be on par with Vince McMahon coming out and saying, “we don’t have a wrestling dinosaur, this is our wrestling dinosaur,” and then out comes T-Bar. Tony Khan’s speech still popped the Dallas fans.

AEW brought a big show to Dallas this week, days after WWE packed a building across town for RAW. They didn’t mention AEW during the red brand this week, but at least Tony Khan saved the reference until after the cameras stopped rolling.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
