WWE is known to change up a Superstar’s name when they come into the company. Shotzi Blackheart just received name change after her main roster call-up, and others have seen their names switched around after spending some time on the main roster already. Bea Priestley is now Blair Davenport, but she’s okay with it.

talkSPORT recently spoke to the NXT UK newcomer, Blair Davenport. She said that this was the right time and opportunity for her, especially after getting cut from AEW. WWE handed her a list of names, and the name they picked for her wasn’t Blair Davenport’s first choice, but then they asked if she could make it work.

“I was offered a bunch of first and last names. It wasn’t my first choice, but it was put to me like, ‘Can you make it work?’ I’m quite confident like, ‘I can make anything work, we’ll work it’. It’s like a fresh start. Bea Priestley is awesome but even from my last match in Japan in April, I am not that version of me anymore. I’ve progressed from that point and this is the new element of me. It’s a new way to recreate yourself and feel refreshed. It’s not a clean slate because I don’t want to forget everything I’ve done, but this is the next level now.”

We will have to see if Blair Davenport can make that name bigger than Bea Priestley’s name ever was outside of WWE. It is interesting that they would switch her name around, especially with the worldwide attention she has already received, but now WWE can focus on building her as Bea Priestley has a fresh start as Blair Davenport.
