It is important to note that Funk has not passed away, but he is suffering from dementia. According to Don Muraco, he is in an assisted living facility, and PW Insider later confirmed this. It is not noted how far along his illness is.

Mick Foley spent years with Funk, both on his side and as adversaries. He sent out a tribute to Funk on Twitter, possibly after hearing the sad news of his current health.
