Mercedes Martinez was knocked out during her match against Xia Li this week on NXT. That match ended early with a referee stoppage and it was a legit situation. Thankfully, the latest news seems to be a bit more positive.
We previously reported that Mercedes Martinez was taken to a hospital following that incident. She was given a check up at that time after getting KO’ed in the squared circle.
During Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez noted what happed to Mercedes Martinez last night. He said that she was legit knocked out as many feared. The good news is that she seems to be fine now.
“She was hospitalized last night after Xia Li hit a spin kick to the jaw that knocked her out. They did the referee stoppage finish, it wasn’t like a worked finish, it was legit. She was taken to the hospital and evaluated. I was under the impression this morning that she’s alright, but that’s all we know.”
We’ll have to see how soon it takes for Mercedes Martinez to make her way back to the ring. Knowing her, she will be ready to go as soon as possible. She might want to stay away from Xia Li’s spin kicks in the meantime.
