Baron Corbin is no longer a King after Shinsuke Nakamura toppled him and took that crown away. WWE SmackDown announcer Pat McAfee was pulling for Corbin because the two go back a while, prior to when most of us knew they were doing their own thing. Of course, McAfee couldn’t really cheer for Corbin on television if Vince McMahon didn’t want him to.

While on Talking Smack, Pat McAfee explained how far he and Baron Corbin go back. He said that they go back to Corbin’s “peasant days,” long before he was a king or even Mr. Money in the Bank.

“Well you know, me and King Corbin go back a long way…well now he is just a basic-ass Baron I guess. Me and Baron Corbin go back to his peasant days, long before any of these royal conversations and as soon as Boogs and Shinsuke teamed up, it was just too much magic and majesty. You know I couldn’t remain Royal to the Baron, the King Corbin. I had to jump ship.”

We’ll have to see if Pat McAfee steps in a WWE ring on the main roster. He has experience in NXT, but SmackDown seems to be a different situation. McAfee is utilized for his gift of gab instead of his abilities in the ring. You can never say never in pro wrestling, especially where WWE is concerned.
