Roman Reigns is the Tribal Chief and he leads the SmackDown brand as Universal Champion. There are also strong rumors that a match against The Rock is very likely as well. Obviously, WWE wants to keep him looking strong.

Reigns is taking on Rey Mysterio at Hell in a Cell. We’re not sure exactly how that match will end, but Reigns is fully expected to continue on as SmackDown’s primary focus.

According to a source who spoke to Wrestling News, Vince McMahon doesn’t want to portray Roman as a cowardly heel at all. He will protect his character at all costs in the process as well.

“Vince doesn’t want to portray Roman as a cowardly heel who gets his ass kicked 50 percent of the time. He’s the guy who will carry the company for the next few years and Vince sees him as his top priority. Protect Roman at all costs.”

Roman Reigns has a few big matches down the line, but WWE doesn’t seem to be rushing him back to any sort of full-time wrestling status. It will be very interesting to see how often Reigns wrestles at live events as WWE gets back on the road once again. Either way, you can likely expect him to close out the show because he refuses to go anywhere except for first and last on the card.
