WWE usually books NXT TakeOver specials on Saturdays prior to big events. They appear to be switching things around for SummerSlam. Then again, the biggest party of the summer is also taking place on a Saturday this year, not the normal day for such shows.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast reports that he has heard that NXT TakeOver will be planned for August 22nd, the day after SummerSlam. They are not holding the event in Las Vegas, because the location was noted as Orlando.

Can Confirm that I was told WWE is planning on an NXT Takeover to take place tentatively in Orlando on 8.22

WWE has a lot of plans in the pipeline and they want to make SummerSlam the biggest event they can. It will be a shorter show, but fans should expect all upcoming WWE pay-per-views to be a bit shorter. The company’s move to Peacock cut down on their need to accumulate “hours watched” on the WWE Network.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
