AOP were a force to be reckoned with in WWE and NXT. Few teams had the kind of potential that young team possessed. Then an injury for one of the former RAW Tag Team Champions sidelined the entire team.

The former WWE Superstars have not appeared for any other company since their WWE release. Fightful Select reports that there has been interest, but there are also various reasons why they haven’t showed up anywhere.

AEW apparently considered them, but it wasn’t known how good of a fit they would be. Then NJPW didn’t bring them in because now isn’t a good time for them to invest in foreign talent.

It was also reported that indie promoters have reached out to AOP about booking them. They were told that the team has retired from pro wrestling.

When their people reached out to AOP, they were informed that both men had “retired.” Rezar is 26, while Akam just turned 28. We aren’t sure if this was representatives for AOP or the men themselves, and are working to find out more information.

This is a bit of a shock. Rezar is 26 and Akem is 28. They are both well within the age that they could get back in the ring. The two have apparently decided to hang up their boots instead.

We’ll have to see if AOP changes their minds. They could appear elsewhere and spark a new chapter for their careers. Right now it seems that they are both doing their own things outside of the pro wrestling world.

Are you surprised that AOP retired? Sound off in the comments!
