WWE wrote a very special angle during NXT this week. Alexander Wolfe was kicked out of Imperium, and it was thought that there would be more to that story. It turns out that is not the case.

Sean Sapp tweeted out to inform fans that Alexander Wolfe has been released from his NXT contract. This is surprising news considering the fact that he was just on television last night and involved in an angle.

I’ve been told that Alexander Wolfe has been released. I’m working to confirm with WWE.

NXT also released Drake Wuertz from his contract today. Referee Jake Clemons was let go as well. At this point it appears that two referees and one wrestler have been cut from the black and gold brand. There could be more to come.

We will continue to keep an eye on this story as more information is made known. No reason was given for these releases, but the company is always in a cost-cutting mode regardless of their profits.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
