Randy Savage is no longer here to defend his legacy, but plenty of people were able to talk about him in the recent A&E Biography. His brother Lanny Poffo had something to say about that, because they didn’t get everything right.

We previously covered how Poffo said that Randy Savage didn’t really lock Miss Elizabeth in closet. He also didn’t appreciate the allegations that his brother took ecstasy or steroids.

In an article for Pro Wrestling Stories, Lanny Poffo refuted the allegations that his brother took steroids. He said that Savage didn’t take them because they were illegal. Then he went on to explain that The Macho Man was actually taking HGH.

In the episode, Stephanie said that she and Randy took ecstasy. I don’t believe my brother ever did any of the stuff she mentioned. Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t, but it was totally inappropriate for her to say those things.

She also mentioned that my brother took steroids. No, it wasn’t steroids because that was illegal at the time. It was human growth hormones. That’s how Randy got massively large for the movie Spider-Man.

I notice she keeps going to wrestling reunions and tries to sell merchandise of her and the Macho Man in photographs together. The people that buy them, I don’t think they’re buying them to see her.

She’s still trying to squeeze the last penny out of that relationship.

The Macho Man’s career influenced many who came after him and those stories of his legendary career will continue being told. Lanny Poffo wanted to make sure that fans knew the real side of the story from someone who was very close to the subject of that documentary.

Randy Savage had a little help maintaining that look along the way, but according to Lanny Poffo he wasn’t on steroids.
