Randy Savage was a complicated man shrouded in legend. There are many stories about him, but not all of them are true.

Lanny Poffo wrote an article for Pro Wrestling Stories that addressed several aspects of A&E’s Biography of Randy Savage. During that documentary, Jerry Lawler said that Randy Savage locked Miss Elizabeth in a closet in the locker room. Poffo, Savage’s own brother had to shut that down.

While addressing Jerry Lawler’s own failed runs at marriage, Poffo denied that his brother ever locked Miss Elizabeth in the closet at any time.

Here’s the thing: The secret to a happy marriage is still a secret to me. I am a one-time loser. I was once married, now divorced.

The secret to a happy marriage is also a secret to someone like Jerry Lawler, who has been divorced three times. So I don’t know why he feels the authority to give marital advice.

Wrestlers love to make profound observations that they have overheard. Contrary to popular belief, my brother Randy Savage never locked Elizabeth in any closet in the dressing room.

Randy Savage is not around anymore after his tragic 2011 passing. He was taken far too soon, and it would be great to hear Savage’s words instead of having to rely on the stories others tell about him. Lanny Poffo says that the tale about locking Miss Elizabeth in the closet is simply a fabrication.
