The Vince McMahon parody sketch was cancelled, but WWE still released it online. Pat McAfee later commented on the skit and said that they cancelled it out of the blue after he filmed it. That led to many fan theories asking why WWE edited out the bit.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that sketch was nixed because Vince McMahon felt like McAfee didn’t resemble a younger version of himself enough. He wanted to have fun with it, but not that much.

We were told the reason McMahon cut if from the show is that McAfee didn’t look or sound like a young McMahon and he thought it looked stupid, comical in the wrong way. He felt that instead of what he was looking for, a parody of himself, he felt it was a parody of a parody

Vince McMahon has a sense of humor about things, but he didn’t want to be a parody of a parody. The segment was cut, but at least fans still got to see it as the company released the video on social media after the Throwback edition of SmackDown had already aired.
