Former WWE Superstar Andrade was finally granted his WWE release after WWE Fastlane last month. Andrade requested his release earlier that month but was not initially granted his release. Andrade has a solid run in NXT where he even won the NXT Championship, but his main roster run in comparison left much to be desired.
Since his release, Andrade is more than ready to start a new chapter in his pro wrestling career. Now it seems Andrade is set to face a former WWE Champion who is also a very controversial figure in pro wrestling.
Andrade will be squaring off against Alberto Del Rio in a singles match on July 31st, as revealed by Del Rio while speaking to Super Luchas. It was also revealed that they will wrestle in texas.
“For the first time they are going to see what people have been asking for for a long time, Andrade against Alberto del Río , I don’t think they had ever sent such a poster to Texas.”
Del Rio also confirmed that Nación Lucha Libre, the promotion co-founded by him and Chavo Guerrero Jr., will be reopening this year after shutting down last year. The event will also feature former WWE Superstars Kalisto, Primo and Epico.
AEW just got in trouble for allowing some of their stars to work show with Alberto. The former WWE Champion has a pending trial for kidnapping and sexual assault.
Del Rio’s controversial status has drawn the ire of fans and even AEW came under fire for letting AEW stars work with him recently. It is certain many fans aren’t exactly looking forward to Andrade facing off against Del Rio in July.
