WWE’s roster is aging, and Vince McMahon realizes that fact. The issue is also evident in their developmental program in NXT.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has a new rule in place to help skew things to a younger average within their roster. They want to limit the wrestlers they sign who are over the age of 30, especially in NXT.

They are willing to make an exception if a “special situation” comes around. If someone comes up who is over that age cap, but they are an established star, then they might get a deal.

We were told there has been a new doctrine when it comes to new signings that unless it is a special situation where somebody is really good or has potential, or if they have a name from elsewhere, they want to limit new developmental signings to those under the age of 30.

WWE just signed 38-year-old LA Knight and 37-year-old Taya Valkyrie to NXT deals. They are obvious exceptions because they already have names in the pro wrestling business.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
