Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn both returned to WWE television at around the same time, but they were thrust into different title pictures. Zayn was put back in the IC Title storyline and Roman Reigns was given the Universal Title. The two could meet in the future, and Zayn is looking forward to it.

While speaking to Rick Ucchino, Sami Zayn was asked about an eventual match with Roman Reigns. He doesn’t feel like it’s the right time right now, but he would still take the opportunity. It doesn’t matter to Zayn if the characters mesh, especially if there’s a Universal Title shot on a pay-per-view to be had.

Zayn did say that he feels a program with the Tribal Chief could be really incredible if given the right build. It doesn’t seem like the right time at the present moment.

“It would be awesome, but I do think that now, character-wise, is not the best mesh. I mean, I don’t care. If it’s a chance at the Universal Championship, I don’t care how the characters mesh, I’ll take it. And if it means the main event of a pay-per-view with the Universal Title on the line, trust me, I’ll take it. But… let’s take this current circumstance and the Elimination Chamber match out of the equation for a second. I think in a different time and in a different place, with the right story, I think something with me and him could be really, really, really incredible.”

It’s all about the storyline that WWE wraps around a match, and Sami Zayn realizes that. Zayn vs Reigns could be a marquee match to draw in a ton of fan attention, but right now it seems that WWE is keeping them separate.
