Samoa Joe is a former NXT Champion, but he has yet to clinch a top title in WWE. He was plagued by injuries, and it has been one year since he last competed in a WWE ring.

Joe suffered concussion while filming that “Must Be Monday” commercial for Raw. He took a bump through a table during that commercial and he suffered an injury. They actually kept that footage in the commercial’s final edit.

Tomorrow marks one whole year since Samoa Joe’s last match in WWE. His last match was in a losing effort teaming with Kevin Owens and the Viking Raiders against Seth Rollins and AOP. He hasn’t wrestled since that match on Raw.

Samoa Joe has been on WWE television consistently, but in a non-wrestling role. He did take a hiatus after his injury, but he returned as a commentator. He is still on the Raw announce team each week.

Hopefully, Samoa Joe will return to the ring and finish up his career on his terms. He certainly didn’t intend on this year-long hiatus from in-ring action.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
