WWE has full control over how their television audience reacts. The ThunderDome includes plenty of piped-in crowd creations. This was apparently not the original intention.

While speaking at the sports panel at CES 2021, Stephanie McMahon said that WWE didn’t want to pump in those fabricated reactions. They felt that it added to the live atmosphere that they were trying to create for their fans and Superstars.

“There were no fans and there was no audible audience. We didn’t think that we should pipe in audio because that didn’t feel authentic, and it was an experience that was ‘less than’ to say the least, and then we really did start to experiment. We started adding different technology, we started piping in audio, we had some of our developmental talents in attendance who were tested of course because health and safety comes first, giving live reaction but it still wasn’t enough.”

WWE has full control over how their matches go over on television. This is not what they previously received as audiences acted like another member of the cast on the show. We will have to see how fans react to WrestleMania when they return, but we can’t wait for it to happen.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
