Mustafa Ali recently made headlines when he vented on Raw Talk about Retribution being left off Legends Night. He said the Legends can barely walk, meanwhile talents in the prime of their career were left off the first episode of 2021.

After Ali received a ton of praise for that Raw Talk promo, he tweeted out photo of himself from that appearance with “we don’t know if we can give you a live mic again” as the caption. This gave off the impression that Mustafa Ali was told he can’t be given a live microphone.

Ringside News asked around about Mustafa Ali being told that he can’t be trusted with a live microphone. Nobody we’ve spoken to has heard about that happening in recent memory. Mustafa Ali has been with WWE since 2016.

We were told that this is “just him hyping his own stuff up,” but it was also noted as “smart.” Mustafa Ali has used social media in brilliant fashion, and he continues to do so.

Even before becoming the leader of Retribution, Mustafa Ali took to social media with self-produced promos that put some which aired on television to shame. That tactic of utilizing social media as his creative tool has not changed.

Mustafa Ali’s Retribution character is someone who has experienced a ton of rejection, mirroring his professional career in many ways. He has also more than proved that he can be trusted with a live microphone.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
