Randy Orton won the WWE Title at Hell in a Cell, ending Drew McIntyre’s first reign as champion, but WWE has other plans in store for the top title on the red brand.

Edge and Orton’s feud is not over yet. The Rated R Superstar got Vince McMahon to agree to a WrestleMania match when he was injured. Edge wants to finish things with Orton on the grandest stage of them all. It would appear the WWE Title will be a part of that situation.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that the impression he’s been given is that Orton vs Edge will take place at the show of shows with the WWE Title on the line.

“I certainly was given the impression tonight  that Orton and Edge is the direction right now for that championship.”

Edge vs Orton III would be a big enough match without the WWE Title in play. It seems that WWE wants to give that feud an extra element.

There are also several months to go before WWE even considers finalizing their WrestleMania card. At this point, considering Vince McMahon proclivity to change his mind, anything can happen in the meantime.
