John Morrison returned to WWE after a long hiatus from the company. Some fans wondered if he would have gone to AEW, and it turns out the opportunity was there.

Morrison spoke to Chris Van Vliet about the last period of free agency that he had in his career. He was with Lucha Underground, but that show wrapped up. WWE actually told him if he re-signed with Lucha Underground then he might not be allowed to come back.

Then Morrison spoke to both AEW and WWE. Vince McMahon and Morrison had a “really good conversation” and then WWE made him an offer that AEW apparently couldn’t match.

“So when season four of Lucha ended, they have some stuff on their contracts where there’s a tail, and the tail doesn’t start until the episodes stop airing. So, I signed with Impact, and when everything was free and clear, I decided, ‘I’m a free agent again, completely free, no ties anywhere. I’m going to figure out where do I want to go?’ So, I talked to WWE and I talked to AEW, and I had a really good conversation with Vince, and they made me a really nice offer, and I ended up taking it.”

You can never say never about John Morrison eventually ending up in AEW. He’s left WWE in the past, and anything is possible in the world of pro wrestling.

WWE has used John Morrison in a way where he gets to work with his friend The Miz as well. He has a pretty good deal with WWE and that obviously didn’t hurt matters.
