WWE announced a match during Raw this week with a career-changing stipulation attached. The Riott Squad faced the IIconics. The winners became #1 contenders for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, but the losers could never team with each other again.

The company decided to split up The IIconics this week. Peyton Royce and Billie Kay have been together since high school, and that’s a shoot. The tears they shed in their post-match interview on Monday were very real.

Breaking up the IIconics wasn’t received all that well within the Internet Wrestling Community. #IIconicsForever trended on social media. Those fans who cared about the situation were equally upset and worried for the Australian duo’s futures.

Ringside News has learned that Vince McMahon decided to pull the trigger on breaking up The IIconics on Monday afternoon. This was a big shock, and not everyone was 100% okay with it backstage, to say the least.

Vince McMahon sees a lot in Peyton Royce. She was the subject of recent call where McMahon raved about how she’s a future singles Superstar. The idea to split her off from Kay has been around, but not decided on until Monday.

We were told that the IIconics breaking up is Peyton Royce’s “breakout moment.” It’s unclear what WWE’s plan is for her to really breakout. Their follow-up appearance on Raw Underground included Billie Kay getting knocked out by Jessamyn Duke.

It is also unknown what the company’s plan is for Billie Kay. Most of the time WWE books a feud to break up a team, but this time they went a totally different direction.
