Adam Cole defeated Pat McAfee at NXT TakeOver: XXX, but the former NFL punter impressed a lot of people in the process. Many pro wrestling fans found new respect for Pat McAfee as well.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that he was told Adam Cole and Pat McAfee did not rehearse their match in the ring. They knew what each of them could do in the ring and they simply went out and did their thing.
“From what I’m told they did not even rehearse this match. I heard that they just went in there and did it because they knew Part was good and they know Adam is great and even then it exceeded — they did some really cool stuff.”
Pat McAfee impressed a lot of people with his NXT debut. James Ellsworth even said that WWE should sign him to $1 million contract. This was something that Britt Baker took exception to because WWE isn’t even paying Adam Cole that much.
