Vince McMahon has his own way that he wants things done. This includes operating with his own set of rules. McMahon’s referees are no exception.

Matt Cardona is no longer in WWE, but he knows plenty about how that company operates. Now as an AEW star, he can look back and discuss what makes sense.

Cardona recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and he was asked about AEW referees not following the rules. This has been a subject of conversation on many occasions. Cardona stated that he didn’t really notice, but then he pointed out how WWE referees have so many rules that fans don’t even know about so it makes zero sense.

“I haven’t really noticed it.  I think in WWE, their officials have rules that the fans don’t even know about.  So, what’s the point of having all these rules if the fans don’t even know what’s going on?  I’m fine with the officiating going on in AEW.  I think the referees need to have authority and I think they do there.”

There are certain rules to tag team wrestling, and other forms of matches in WWE that fans don’t even know about. It’s always important to know about the rules, but informing fans about those rules is also a way to help keep them involved as well. At least fans can see what’s going on inside an AEW ring as the rules aren’t hidden.
