Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of WWE NXT. Please keep refreshing throughout the show for constant updates once it kicks off at 8:00 PM EST.

In what could be seen as an attempt to counter-program AEW’s Fyter Fest, WWE has revived another WWE classic for their NXT brand as tonight is Night 1 of NXT’s Great American Bash, and a total of 5 matches have been announced for tonight’s card, including one first-ever match!

First up, Timothy Thatcher will compete in his first match since his cage match with Matt Riddle. After weeks of vignettes promoting his “Thatch-as-Thatch-can” wrestling school, Thatcher has been called out by one-half of the Brit-Am Brawlers, Oney Lorcan. This is sure to be a hard-hitting contest with two of the best strikers in NXT.

Also in singles action tonight, Dexter Lumis and Roderick Strong will face off once again, but this time in NXT’s first-ever Strap Match. Last week, Strong high-tailed it out of the ring when he came face-to-face with Lumis, but there will be nowhere to run for the Messiah of the Backbreaker tonight when Lumis and Strong are connected with a strap.

In a match that was set up last week, Rhea Ripley will take on both Aliyah and Robert Stone in a handicap match where, if Ripley loses, she must join the Robert Stone Brand. While he has not performed in this capacity as of yet, Stone is a competent wrestler, and one must wonder if Ripley might be underestimating her opponents tonight, but only time will tell.

In further women’s action, Candice LeRae, Tegan Nox, Mia Yim, and Dakota Kai will compete in a fatal-four-way match to determine the #1 contender for Io Shirai’s NXT Women’s Championship. While Shirai will be in a match tonight, she will not be defending her title, so her next defense will likely be against one of these women, but who will it be?

Finally, in what will likely be the main event, NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai will take on one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks for the first time ever. Banks will have her partner, the Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley, in her corner tonight, but Bayley and Banks have hit a few speed bumps over the past few weeks, so will Bayley be a helping hand or a hindrance? Find out tonight.

Night 1 of NXT’s Great American Bash has been promoted as having limited commercial interruptions, so we look forward to covering all 5 of these matches and more when NXT goes live tonight at 8:00 PM EST!
