WWE needed to reposition a lot of things after WrestleMania. It appears that they brought Jinder Mahal back as a babyface this time around.

Vince McMahon pushed Jinder Mahal as WWE Champion for nearly a year as he tried to secure an Indian fan base. The problem was that it didn’t work with a heel champion everywhere else that was babyface in India. This time they will likely present him as a babyface all around.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that Jinder Mahal’s promo on RAW was very much a babyface promo. This seems to indicate that WWE is giving him a push in the babyface direction.

Mahal did a babyface interview. He congratulated McIntyre for winning the title and noted they were a former team. He said that he has learned from his mistakes and will redeem himself. He said that his journey back to the top will be a hero’s journey. The idea was always to try and market Mahal as a babyface superstar for India.

Jinder Mahal’s past as WWE Champion coupled with his history alongside Drew McIntyre could be very interesting. They both have similar redemption stories as well. Both were released from WWE only to come back and claim the top prize in the company.

Let’s see if Heath Slater returns to make a trifecta of released 3MB members to come back and become top champions in WWE.
