WWE released Heath Slater on April 15th and now the One Man Band is on his own. He has some friends who are already on the indies that might be willing to join up with him.

While speaking to Wrestling Inc, Slater admitted how weird it is right now. He was released, but there are no indie shows running. This created an interesting situation as everyone waits at home.

“There is a buyer’s market. There’s interest for sure. But who knows what’s gonna happen two months down the road? That’s why I say it’s so crazy because all of my buddies say, ‘Yeah we got released. But if there wasn’t a pandemic then we could go and do some shows.’ But we can’t.”

Heath Slater was previously a member of Nexus in WWE. The group saw a few changes from June 7th, 2010 to August 1, 2011 when the stable was finally disbanded. The stable’s members included Wade Barrett, Daniel Bryan, Darren Young, Skip Sheffeld (Ryback), Michael Tarver, Justin Gabriel, Heath Slater, David Otunga, John Cena, Husky Harris (Bray Wyatt), Michael McGillicutty, CM Punk, and Mason Ryan.

The idea of a Nexus reunion was thrown out there. A couple of Nexus members are still with WWE so it’s impossible for them to join. It’s not an impossibility for some kind of reunion and Slater seemed all about having some fun with his old stablemates.

“Man, don’t let the other guys hear that. It might happen. I’ve got so many NEXUS shirts [laughs]. I’m joking about that last part.

“That would be more than fun. That would be like starting the fire again and the flame might burn better.”

The indie wrestling world might be at a standstill right now. Once things get up and running again there will be a new influx of talent from WWE just ready to prove themselves once again. This could be an exciting time and Heath Slater could be a big part of it.
