Jeff Cobb surprised us all when he appeared for AEW during Dynamite this week. It was very quickly reported that Cobb has not inked a deal with All Elite Wrestling.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer brought up Jeff Cobb’s current situation. AEW wants Cobb to sign a contract, but he hasn’t at this point. It appears that Cobb is just in AEW for an angle right now.

“So for Jeff Cobb the basic gist on this is that Jeff Cobb has not signed a contract. He’s gonna be doing all the shows he’s advertised to do. Actually, at this point he’s in for an angle. It’s not even that he’s with AEW. He may be. He may sign with them, but he was looking at being a free agent and working New Japan as much as he can and I don’t know if that’s changed.”

“I know Cody has wanted him ever since his contract with Ring Of Honor ended. They wanted him, and they wanted him as a full-timer, but right now he’s just in for this and he hasn’t signed a contract. He may and things can happen, but that’s the situation right now.”

Jeff Cobb will continue working for ROH, NJPW, and PWG. He will also be wrestling for AEW. It was noted that there’s always a chance that one of those companies could say that Cobb can’t work for them if he continues to appear elsewhere. So far that hasn’t been the case.

Right now Jeff Cobb is scheduled for his only advertised match in AEW against Jon Moxley next week on Dynamite.

Jeff Cobb is in an incredibly good position right now as he remains a free agent, but he gets to work practically where ever he wants.
