WWE rushed to get NXT on the USA Network in time for AEW Dynamite. NXT was able to get ahead of AEW by two weeks as they aired hour-long episodes after the final episodes of Suits. Now NXT is losing to Dynamite consistently every week.

During the NXT TakeOver: Portland conference call, Triple H discussed NXT’s plan to carry on against AEW. It’s a marathon and not a sprint.

Triple H also stressed the importance of focusing on a younger demographic. He said that NXT’s numbers are very similar to those they receive on the USA Network.

“I think it’s all about the long game. And what we have to do is get to the people in the younger demos. When you’re promoted in younger demos and you’re viewed in those younger demos, promotionaly, then those are the people that you attract. When you’re promoted in different demos… when you look at NXT on USA and you break down the numbers, it’s very similar to a RAW number, it’s very similar to a USA number, because that’s where we’re promoted, and that’s where we’re seen, and that’s where everything else goes. But the long game is building up the brand that you’ve built.”

Perhaps WWE NXT could reach a younger demographic if they advertise in different spaces. AEW is reaching a younger demographic which is key to the longevity of the brand. Let’s see if WWE has any plans to boost NXT’s importance on the road to WrestleMania.
