Goldberg and Brock Lesnar were both leaving WWE after WrestleMania XX. The fans realized this and they destroyed their match with negative chants.

During The Broken Skull Sessions, Goldberg discussed that historic match. Well over ten years later he can discuss these events with a little bit of retrospect, but at the time Lesnar was ready to start killing people in Madison Square Garden.

“I thought Brock Lesnar was going to kill me because he was so mad I was like where am I? What’s going on? […] I thought I could get him riled up and we could just go. It fed it, it fed me. We should’ve just gone into the crowd and started tagging people.”

Goldberg can clearly be seen screaming: “F*ck these f*cking people. F*ck em all! F*ck em all!” He also admitted that “weird is an understatement” about how it felt.

After his exit from WWE, Goldberg harbored lot of resentment toward the company. He felt like Vince McMahon set out to destroy everything he had built in WCW. His WrestleMania XX exit certainly didn’t do much to convince him otherwise.
