Kofi Kingston is a hoarder and that really paid off in this instance. He held onto the full list of names that WWE pitched them before starting The New Day.

The New Day are running past five years as a stable, but that might not have happened if they went with some of the names WWE pitched them.

The list is segmented into Musical Names, Inspirational, Trios, and Religious. In the end, WWE went with a name pitched by Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods.

During the latest episode of The New Day: Feel The Power, they read the entire list of pitched names. They also dragged pretty much them each individually.

Names Kofi, Big E, and Xavier Pitched:

By Any Means Necessary (Xavier Woods suggested that name because he was heavy into Malcolm X audio books at the time. He said that he had to stop because he was becoming “very militant” and “I was rough for a second.”)

The New Way

The New Day

Throughout the entire episode they kept saying that this list of names was written by people who were paid to come up with those names. In the end, they went with a name that was pitched by the Superstars themselves.

Kofi Kingston said that their livelihood depended on a good name. Several names were trashed as they said that it would have resulted in instant death with the fans if they went out there under that name. It’s a good thing that Kofi Kingston held onto that list because it also gives us an insightful glimpse into WWE’s creative process.
