There are unfortunately some people out there who want to take advantage of people, including pro wrestlers. Due to social media, it has made it more difficult to pull off some of the more carny shenanigans, but it still happens.

Tony Deppen, an indie wrestler said that a promotion called LA Lucha agreed to fly him from Chicago to LA for a show. Then what happened next was nothing they agreed on.

After saying that they would pay his rate, they flew him to an airport that is about an hour and half drive from LAX where he was supposed to land. Then he was told the show was canceled due to legal reasons.

They were apparently set up in a “roach motel” that cost $75, but the promoter refused to pay the $100 deposit so it was on the wrestlers. Instead of staying there, Deppen and another wrestler pulled their money together to get a better hotel.

It’s been two weeks and some wrestlers have been paid, but Deppen has not. So, he let everything out in a tweet which you can read below.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
