WWE SmackDown really had to pull a show together at the last minute and fans knew this. The company needed to call NXT Superstars to help out because their main roster was stuck in Saudi Arabia. It turns out that this might have helped pique interest.

ShowBuzz Daily reports that FOX garnered 2.605 million viewers for the first hour of Friday Night SmackDown with 2.481 million sticking around for the second hour.

It also helps this rating considering the fact that the show only drew 888,000 viewers on FS1 last week. Either way, WWE has to be pleased with this result.

Like we noted, they had 888,000 fans tune in last week against the World Series. Last night’s number is nothing compared to the nearly 4 million viewers that WWE captured for their FOX debut, but this is a pretty impressive spike.
