Welcome to Ringside News’ live coverage of AEW’s inaugural Dynamite.

This. Is. It. After one full year of hype and anticipation, All Elite Wrestling’s flagship weekly TV show is happening tonight. AEW Dynamite is airing live at 8 PM on the TNT Network in the US, and TSN in Canada, and represents a brand new era in professional wrestling. It’s an exciting time for sure, and we’re here to recount the live play-by-play action.

So what can you expect tonight? We’ll we already know a few of the matches, including Cody Vs. Sammy Guevara, Hangman Page Vs. Pac, and Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks Vs. Chris Jericho & Santana & Ortiz. Jon Moxley is also scheduled to appear, and we will crown the first-ever AEW Women’s Champion in a match bewteen Nyla Rose and Riho.

So that’s the preview for tonight’s show. We’re incredibly excited to see what AEW brings to the table on a weekly basis, not the least which will be actual storylines that make the brands fun PPV’s worth investing in. AEW Dynamite

The first-ever episode of AEW Dynamite is live and kicking! Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone welcome us to the show, then run down the matches for tonight’s show. Next we see a video package hyping the match between Cody and Sammy Guevara.

Cody and Brandi make their entrance for the first match of the evening. Cody’s opponent, Sammy Guevara is out next to boos.

Cody Vs. Sammy Guevara

The match gets underway and they lock-up. Sammy takes a headlock but Cody shoots him off, then Guevara flips over Cody and almost falls. They exchange reversals until Cody rolls from the ring to regroup. Cody slides back in and Sammy poses like Shawn Michaels on the mat.

Sammy grabs Cody from behind, then shoves him into the ropes and hits a dropkick, followed by a handspring moonsault. Cody hits a headlock takeover and tries to grind Guevara. Sammy fights up and Cody drops him with a shoulder tackle, prompting Sammy to kip-up and hit a slap to the face. Cody responds with a drop-down uppercut and a snap powerslam for a two-count.


Cody applies a Figure Four leglock but Guevara gets to the bottom rope. Cody grabs the wrist and snaps it over his shoulder. Cody forces him to the corner and slaps the chest before hitting a stalling front-suplex. Cody does some push-ups to pose. Cody hits a springboard diamond cutter for a near-fall.

Cody throws Sammy over the ropes but he lands on the apron and kicks Rhodes backwards, before hitting a springboard cutter of his own for a two-count. Cody backs into the corner and Sammy hits a shoulder tackle and lands on the apron. He looks for an enziguiri but Cody kicks him off and to the floor. Brandi talks trash to Sammy while Cody hits the ropes for a suicide dive…but Guevara pulls Brandi into the dive!

Sammy slams Cody into the ring post, then back into the ring. He looks for a moonsault but Cody moves, Sammy lands on his feet and hits a moonsault. Cody knocks Sammy onto the middle rope, where Brandi hits him with her shoe, then Cody hits the Disaster Kick but Guevara kicks out!

Cody sets Guevara on the top rope and climbs up behind him, and hits an inverted superplex but again he kicks out! Cody heads up top but Sammy leaps up with him and hits a Spanish Fly but Cody kicks out. Guevara heads to the top rope and looks for the Shooting Star Press but Cody gets his knees up and hooks an inside cradle for the win!

Winner: Cody

After the match Cody leans through the ropes and kisses Brandi. Tony Schiavone comes into the ring and Cody hugs him. He’s about to interview him when Guevara gets up and shoves Cody. They exchange words, then shake hands. While they’re shaking, the AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho, runs down and attacks Cody! The two will face-off at Full Gear next month for the AEW World Championship.

Jericho whips Cody into the corner and hits a clothesline before holding his title in the air. Cody gets to his feet and Jericho hits a Codebreaker. AEW heads to commercial but we can still see a split-screen, in which Jericho talks trash before hitting Cody with another Codebreaker. Jericho hits Cody with the title over the head before grabbing an expensive camera from a fan at ringside and taking pictures of Cody, who rolls from the ring. Jericho follows after him and grabs a chair, then whacks Cody with it. Jericho slaps Cody in the face, then sets-up two chairs and powerbombs Cody onto them!

Jericho walks up the ramp and grabs a microphone. He introduces himself as the “Champion of AEW”, then we see replays of the attack.

Brandon Cutler makes his entrance, followed by Maxwell Jacob Friedman. MJF tells them to cut-off his music as he walks to the ring. He calls the fans poor and says he is the fastest-rising star in pro wrestling. He calls the fans losers and says they have the opportunity to see him wrestle. He mocks Brandon Cutler and says he looks like he should be a fan, not in the ring. MJF calls Cutler a loser and says he is better than him.

Brandon Cutler Vs. MJF

They lock-up and MJF forces him to the corner. Cutler comes out quick but MJF trips him. Cutler gets up and MJF slaps him. Cutler flips over MJF and slaps him back, then gets thrown onto the apron. Cutler shoulder tackles MJF and hits a sunset bomb from the apron to the ring.

MJF slides out of the ring and yanks Cutler’s neck down on it. He gets back inside and tosses Cutler into the ring post. MJF slows things down and punches Cutler against the ropes. Cutler side-steps MFJ and he flies through the ropes, followed by Brandon hitting a suicide dive. Cutler gets MJF back in the ring. Cutler heads up top but literally just falls off. MJF then uses the referee to distract Cutler, then knocks him down and applies the Salt of the Armbar and Cutler taps.

Winner: MJF

MJF poses for the camera before it quickly heads to commercial. Seems like Cutler may have hurt himself and they called an audible to finish the match quickly.

*Commercial Break*

Back live and we’re down at ringside with Chris Van Vliet, who introduces Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes. Chris mentions that they’re working with Chris Jericho on Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and Smith says, “believe it or not, Jericho is a bad guy in our movie”. Smith says they’re excited to be here and mentions the Cody match, but out comes Angelico and Jack Evans. They talk trash but Jason Mewes makes fun of the fact that they haven’t even won a match in AEW. Private Party comes over to Mewes and Smith to keep Evans and Angelico back, then the segment just ends.

We see SCU standing outside the White House in Washington, D.C. Scorpio Sky pretends to be Obama and says they’ve done extensive research and realised that D.C. is the worst town they’ve ever been to. Daniels says they’re here to do what they always do, then walk off. The camera cuts to the arena and SCU are on the stage with Tony Schiavone. They’re asked about the tag team tournament that’s currently in play, and Scorpio says they’re going to be draped in gold. Out come the Lucha Bro’s and they say they are the best tag team in the universe. They both shout their catchphrases then begin brawling but they’re pulled apart by officials on the stage.

*Commercial Break*

We see Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks sitting backstage, then the camera cuts to Jericho, Santino & Ortiz.

Hangman Page makes his way to the ring followed by The Bastard, PAC.

*Commercial Break*

Adam “Hangman” Page Vs. PAC

The bell rings with PAC outside the ring, he slides in and avoids a stomp to deliver a kick to the face of Page. They go back and forth with forearms, with Page the fan favourite. PAC delivers a series of big kicks, and hits the ropes but Page kicks him. Page hits the ropes but PAC kicks him, then Pac hits the ropes and Page floors him with a clothesline.

Page puts PAC in the corner and chops him. PAC rolls out and Page slams PAC into the barricade. PAC knees Page in the gut and throws him in the ring, then turns to mock the fans, allowing Page to hit a suicide dive. Page sends PAC into the ring and follows-up with a fallaway slam and a standing shooting star press for a near-fall.

PAC tosses Page to the apron and stuns him on the ropes. PAC goes out and slams Page into the apron, then stomps the back of his head before hitting a springboard moonsault on the floor. PAC rolls Page into the ring and hits a springboard 450 for a near-fall. PAC stomps Page and heads up top but Hangman rolls to the other side of the ring.

PAC gets down and hits a hanging dropkick in the corner, before heading up top again. Page kicks PAC and climbs up and hits an avalanche fallaway slam. Page hits PAC with a modified Diamond Cutter for a near-fall. PAC slams Page into the turnbuckles, then tosses him shoulder-first into the ring post and Page falls to the floor.

*Commercial Break*

We return and PAC is firmly in control; stomping Page around the ring. PAC talks trash to Hangman and the fans, then Page gets up and hits him. A sloppy spinebuster from Page, then lifts PAC but The Basard gets out. PAC heads-up top and jumps but Hangman hits a pop-up powerbomb for a near-fall. Page goes to the apron but PAC rolls from the ring. Page heads to the top rope and hits a moonsault to PAC on the floor.

Page get him in the ring and PAC hits a low-blow behind the referee’s back! PAC then drops Page and hits the Black Arrow, applies the Brutalizer and Page passes out!

Winner: PAC

Dr. Britt Baker makes her way out and joins the commentary team for the next match.

Inaugural AEW Women’s Championship Match
Nyla Rose Vs. RIHO

The match begins and Nyla runs at Riho, but the young Japan star dodges her and she hits the turnbuckles. Riho dropkicks Nyla, then again, and delivers a kick but Rose hits a shoulder tackle to change the momentum.

Rose hits a splash to Nyla and looks for the pin but Riho slides out and stands-up Matrix-style. Riho stomps the back of Rose and stands on it but Nyla sits up and makes her fall. Nyla applies and STF and Riho crawls for the ropes to force the break. Nyla looks for a stalling suplex but Riho lands on her feet.

Rose looks for a German suplex but Riho fights out. Rose connects with an elbow and hits the ropes but Riho hits two running knees to send Nyla to the outside. Riho heads to the top rope and leaps at Nyla, who catches her and hits a gutbuster.

Nyla grabs a chair from under the ring and is about to use it when the referee pulls the chair off. Nyla slams Riho into the barricade, then stares at the AEW Women’s Championship sat on a podium, before pulling five or so chairs from the ring. Rose sets Riho on the chairs and looks for a senton bomb from the apron but nobody’s home! Riho gets on the apron and hits a double stomp.

Riho gets Nyla back in the ring and hits a double stomp to the back but Rose kicks out! Rose applies a rear chinlock as we head to a split-screen commercial. Riho hits another double foot stomp, but then Nyla counters her with a slam for a two-count. Rose drops Riho on the top rope, then heads to the top rope and hits a flying knee for another near-fall.

Nyla applies an STF until Riho basically passes out. Nyla lifts Riho and looks for a powerbomb but Riho tries to flip her over and almost broke in half. Nyla lifts her up and Riho delivers several punches before being dropped with a right. Again Riho fights back until Rose floors her with a big boot. Riho rolls-up Nyla but she kicks out at 2.8! Nyla hits a Death Valley Driver for a near-fall.

Rose heads to the top rope, where Riho meets her and delivers a flurry of strikes. Riho hits a northern lights suplex! Riho looks for a running shining wizard but misses. She hits one to the back of Nyla’s head, then hits another to her face and wins!

Winner and First AEW Women’s Champion: Riho

A translator comes into the ring and interviews Riho. She holds the title up as the guy talks but then Nyla comes in and attacks him! Rose lifts him up, almost drops him on his head, then lifts him up again and hits a powerbomb. Nyla lifts Riho on the apron but out comes Kenny Omega and stops her.

The Young Bucks make their entrance, followed by Omega – who must have walked to the back to walk right back out.

*Commercial Break*

The Elite Vs. Chris Jericho & Santana & Ortiz

The match starts with Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho. Y2J tags Santana before they even lock-up. Santana reverses a whip from Omega but he bends over and eats a kick. Omega chops the chest, but Santana shoulders him. Omega dropkicks him in the knee and leapfrogs him to hit a nice bulldog.

Ortiz tags in, but Omega hits a hurricanrana. Jericho tags in and chops Omega.. Omega looks for a hurricanrana on Jericho but the Champion reverses into the Liontamer. Matt and Nick come in and hit stereo superkicks to Jericho, then knock Santana and Ortiz from the ring. The Young Bucks hit dives to Santana and Ortiz on the outside, then gesture for Kenny to do the same. Kenny readies himself for a dive but as he does so, Jon Moxley appears behind him and attacks!

Moxley beats on Kenny and they spill from the ring into the crowd. Moxley and Kenny brawl to the back and somehow the match isn’t over, it’s just now 3-on-2. Kenny grabs a mop – the cleaner – and hits Moxley over the back with it. Jon fights back and slams Kenny into a door. Moxley punches Omega a bit before grabbing him and hitting Dirty Deeds through a glass table!

*Commercial Break*

Back live and Ortiz is teeing off on Matt Jackson. Santana tags in and he hits a suplex as we see a replay of Moxley suplexing Omega through the table. Matt dodges Ortiz and sends him to the outside, before connecting with a spear to Santana. Matt looks for a tag but Ortiz pulls Nick from the apron.

Ortiz hits a springboard moonsault, then Santana hits a weird falling headbutt for a two count. Jericho tags in and looks for the lionsault but Matt got his knees up. Ortiz tags in but Matt hits him and connects with a Diamond Cutter from the second rope. Matt hits a locomotion northern lights suplex, then Santana runs in and he hits them both with a northern lights suplex.

Nick tags in and knocks Jericho from the apron before dropping Santana and Ortiz with a bulldog/kick combo. Nick kicks Jericho from the apron, hits a double foot stomp to Ortiz, then a moonsault to Santana on the floor. The Bucks look to hit the Meltzer Driver but as Nick comes off the ropes Jericho catches him with a Codebreaker! Santana and Ortiz then hit a double-team senton to Nick, followed by a Judas Effect from Jericho for the win!

Winners: Chris Jericho & Santana & Ortiz

As soon as the match ends, Jericho and his cohorts continue the attack. Cody comes running down and starts attacking Jericho. Sammy Guevara comes out and low-blows Cody, then Dustin Rhodes comes down and joins the attack. Just as soon as they build momentum, Jack Hager – formerly Jack Swagger –  comes from nowhere and attacks Cody and Dustin!

Hager slams Dustin before hitting a springboard splash to Cody. Santana and Ortiz bring the timekeepers bell table into the ring as Jericho punches Cody. Hager hits Dustin with a powerbomb through the table, then the heels lift Cody so Jericho can hit the Judas Effect. Jericho, Hager, Guevara, Santana, & Ortiz stand tall in the ring to end the show.
