Seth Rollins is defending the Universal Title next week against the winner of tonight’s #1 contender fatal five-way match on Raw. This is a very interesting decision because he is already scheduled to defend his title against Bray Wyatt at Hell In A Cell.

Dave Meltzer explained WWE’s reasoning for this booking decision during Wrestling Observer Radio. WWE is placing a ton of focus on SmackDown and NXT next week, therefore, they don’t want Raw to get lost in the shuffle.

“All of the emphasis is gonna fall on SmackDown and NXT because NXT is gonna have a loaded show on October 2nd because they have to, we know that. So I guess they wanna make sure that Raw doesn’t fall too far, right?”

It will be very interesting to see how WWE books next week’s Universal Title match. While it could just be an opportunity for The Fiend to show up and destroy everyone involved, you really never know what WWE will try to pull off. This is especially true with Paul Heyman in his Executive Director role backstage.
