Bayley and Ember Moon are set to do battle at Summerslam with The Hugger’s SmackDown Women’s Title on the line, but they lost this week on SmackDown in a tag team match against Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.

This loss for Moon and Bayley made some people wonder about WWE’s reasoning. Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE actually had a very good reason for defeating the two SmackDown Superstars who were already set for a title match on August 11th.

“There were three Raw acts on the show. There was Alexa and Nikki Cross, there was Drew McIntyre, and there was AJ Styles. They were gonna beat Drew McIntyre and they were going to beat AJ Styles so they felt like they had to have a Raw win.”

“Another reason is that Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are going to be in the Women’s Tag Team Title match so that’s the other reason.”

WWE will probably make a WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match official on television this week. After all, next week are the go-home TV shows before Summerslam so they are really up against a wall here.

It appears that a multi-team match could be in order and Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross will be part of the fray. Let’s just see if The IIconics will be able to get out of this one with their titles or whether they can claim another case of “Puppy fever” has flared up again.
