Welcome to Ringside News’ coverage of WWE SmackDown Live. Please keep refreshing throughout the show for constant updates once it kicks off at 8:00 PM EST.

Daniel Bryan teased a big announcement last week on SmackDown Live. He didn’t get around to actually saying anything, so he might get around to it tonight.

Shane McMahon also has a message for Kevin Owens and he will deliver it tonight. This could likely end up in a Summerslam match with KO’s career on the line.

Ember Moon will face Charlotte Flair as well. This could be a big step on her way to Summerslam if Moon can defeat The Queen.

Kofi Kingston also is yet to get any kind of clue as to who he will be facing at Summerslam. That will be addressed tonight as well.

All that and more is expected and we’ll bring you the results as soon as they take place right here at Ringside News.

Opening Segment

The New Day were at the commentary position and David Otunga was there this week too. Todd Phillips was there, but no Corey Graves for some reason.

Shane McMahon came out dancing next. He was happy that Kevin Owens wasn’t at the RAW Reunion. Then he said KO was hiding behind social media instead.

McMahon brought up Kevin’s Summerslam challenge. Shane called himself “the best of the world” and then he accepted Owens’ challenge. Huge “you can’t wrestle” chants broke out and cut Shane off.

Shane then played a clip of Owens quitting in 2018 before Owens came out and said that was a very dark time in his life. He said that’s not who he is now, but he won’t have to quit at Summerslam because he will beat the holy hell out of Shane.

Then McMahon booked Owens in a match against Roman Reigns tonight.

Later on, Shane McMahon was backstage and he ran into Elias and Drew McIntyre. Then Elias called Shane a genius for putting Kevin Owens in a match against Roman Reigns. Then Shane McMahon made Drew the guest referee for the match.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs Apollo Crews

Apollo took control early on and hit Nakamura with a stalling suplex that he kept up forever. Then Nakamura got clotheslined to the outside before Crews nailed a moonsault on him.

The New Day (Woods and Big E) were still on commentary and they were amazing.

Then Shinsuke gained control and grounded Crews with a chinlock. Crews got to his feet and threw Nakamura down to bust his face on the mat before Nakamura ducked, but Crews caught him with a jumping clothesline.

Crews hit a Samoan Drop for a two count, but Nakamura soon caught him in the head with a kick followed by another on the back of the neck and a sliding snap German suplex while Crews was hung up in the ropes.

Crews stopped a Kinshasa and hit an Olympic Slam for another two count. Then Crew climbed to the top rope, but Nakamura stopped him. He got down, but missed a standing moonsault before Shinsuke caught a Kinshasa for the win.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke kept kicking Crews after the match and the assault continued outside of the ring. Then he hit yet another Kinshasa while Woods called it one of the most painful maneuvers in all of WWE then he asked where Apollo’s friends are.

Sonya and Mandy were backstage. Then Mandy said that they have a match next week and if they win then they get a Women’s Tag Team Title match. Then they looked at each other for a little bit too long.

Ali cut a backstage promo about writing his own story saying that he’s writing his own story. If his pen runs out of ink, then he’ll use his own blood.

Miz TV

They showed a clip from the RAW Reunion and then he introduced Shawn Michaels. Xavier Woods sang every word to HBK’s entrance music… classic.

Shawn said it was great to be at the reunion with the WWE family and they enjoyed every second of it. Then huge “HBK” chants broke out.

Michaels put over Rollins for some reason and then Dolph Ziggler came out. He was tired of hearing about the legends and asked to be put out of his misery if he ever gets like those legends. Miz said he would be happy to punch him in the face.

Dolph talked trash to HBK and said that he had a chance to write his ticket and go away as the greatest of all time. He said Michaels is embarrassing — as embarrassing as Goldberg. He said Michaels broke his heart when he returned to the ring. Then he said HBK was embarrassing.

HBK admitted it and didn’t disagree with him, but then he said what is more embarrassing is working your whole career and being left as nothing other than being a second rate Shawn Michaels wannabe.

Then Ziggler said there’s only one second rate Shawn Michaels out here and he’s looking at him. Then The Miz cut Ziggler off and said he’s sick of hearing it. He said in this company “you make it you.” Then Miz said again “do something about it.”

The crowd chanted “do something” and Miz extended his chin. Ziggler went swinging at HBK, but he ducked and The Miz got hit. Then Ziggler hit Michaels with a superkick before leaving.

Charlotte Flair vs Ember Moon

Bayley came down pretty early on to distract Flair. Then Ember got a roll up pin and won the match.

Winner: Ember Moon

Ember then rolled Bayley in the ring where Charlotte hit a knee to the head before Moon hit an Eclipse on Charlotte and then on Bayley.

Kofi Kingston Announcement

Kingston said he wanted to call out someone before they attack him from being. Then he called out Randy Orton as the man he hopes he will face at Summerslam.

The Viper came out and he was walking slowly as usual. Then Kofi brought up the famous MSG show where people were chanting his name and he beat Orton all over the arena. Then he showed him a refresher from 2009.

Kingston said that was the moment when he was supposed to make it to the main event scene, but Orton used his influence to hold him down and make sure he would never reach the main even scene again.

RKO admitted to holding Kofi down and he didn’t have to fake a Jamaican accent, throw pancakes, or shake his ass to get there. Then Orton said he’s the only reason why Kofi got to WrestleMania because he injured Ali when Kofi took his part at Elimination Chamber.

Then the match was set for the WWE Championship at Summerslam

Kofi Kingston vs Samoa Joe

Joe was heavy on the offense, but Kingston eventually used some great agility to put him down and then a dropkick sent him out of the ring where Kingston landed a dive on Joe.

Then they moved back to the ring where Joe quickly countered some mounted punches in the corner by sending Kofi’s head into the top turnbuckle.

Joe continued the punishing offense until Kofi came back with some strikes and a jumping clubbing blow before hitting a boom drop. Randy Orton sat at ringside and he looked on with a very curious look on his face.

Suddenly, Randy jumped in the ring and tried to hit an RKO, but Kofi dodged it. The bell sounded and the match was over.

Randy hit Samoa Joe with an RKO and then Kofi nailed Trouble In Paradise on Orton.

Finn Balor Interview

Kayla Braxton interview Balor in the ring and they watched the Bray Wyatt assault in his return to RAW. Balor said he’s battled Wyatt before and he doesn’t know why he’s being targeted now.

Balor said Bray is more twisted and messed up than ever, but he’s stared fear in the eyes before. Then he challenged Bray Wyatt to a match at Summerslam.

Suddenly, Wyatt appeared on screen as himself in the Firefly Fun House. He said they’re big fans of his. The match is on.

Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens

Shane McMahon was guest ring announcer, Elias was guest timekeeper, and Drew McIntyre was the referee. This match was just full of heels.

McMahon took a shot at KO and Roman during his announcement. Then Owens said he doesn’t care who he runs through, because Shane’s getting dropped. Then Roman said he’s whooping everyone’s ass tonight.

It didn’t take long until they just turned on Drew and then Elias got taken down off the apron. Owens and Reigns tried to corner Shane, but McIntyre jumped them. Soon there was a 3 on 1 beatdown on Reigns while Owens was laid out on the outside.

Just as Shane was about to spear Reigns, Owens dragged him outside and threw him into the barricade. Then Owens laid out Elias and Drew with superkicks and Roman hit a spear too.

Shane tried to get away, but Roman ran after him and threw him back in the ring for a Superman Punch and a KO Stunner. The crowd chanted “one more time,” so Owens hit another Stunner before the end of the show.
