AEW had to start by hiring a good crew behind the scenes and several of those people came from the pro wrestling business. Apparently, a good chunk came from TNA as well.

A lot of fans made comments about how AEW’s events feel like a TNA pay-per-view. We really didn’t see that ourselves, but some fans were steadfast in that observation. If they felt that way then there might be a reason. Because the AEW production team is comprised from a few people who used to work for TNA.

“There a lot of people who worked for TNA working on the production team,” Mike Johnson said on PW Insider Elite Audio. This was stated during a conversation where they were discussing the fan observation that AEW felt like TNA when it came to production.

We’ll have to see what kind of production they end up using when they arrive on TNT. There could be a very distinctive style that they’re going for. Hopefully, they figure things out because they don’t want to get stuck with the TNA stigma at all when they’re charging through the starting gate.

I love pro wrestling and hate BS. These two things drive me. Years of experience in writing, journalism, and digging exclusive insider info for Ringside News. Worked in finance before realizing pro wrestling journalism made much less sense. Pro beachballs at pro wrestling shows, pro dives if someone catches, anti bullies, olives, and pineapples on pizza.
