Kevin Owens is not going to the next Saudi Arabia event in Jeddah on June 7th. This makes four top male WWE Superstars who will not be participating in the Super ShowDown.

Owens is very close friends with Sami Zayn who is also not going to the Super ShowDown event. However, Zayn’s absence is not by his choice. He is of Syrian ancestry and as it was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “the Saudis hate Syrians.”

Therefore, KO will not be going to the event, however, he has a few reasons for not participating.

With Owens, company sources have said he was asked by his family not to go. Others have said there are a number of reasons, and all of the reasons speculated on were accurate.

Sami Zayn not being allowed to attend the event is obviously a big reason for Kevin Owens not wanting to go. Therefore, Owens simply told WWE that he didn’t want to go to KSA and the company reportedly accepted his request.

It is said that WWE never asked Kevin Owens why he didn’t want to go to Saudi Arabia and they simply allowed him to sit this one out. It is also reported that there was no pressure on Owens to change his mind despite the difficult spot it put the company in to book the event.
