SmackDown Live is currently without tag team champions. The Hardy Boyz had to relinquish the titles before getting a chance to defend them once. Now new champions must be determined.

Shane McMahon is supposedly going to announce who the new champions will be this week on the blue brand’s show. However, he might not have a lot of options.

When WWE listed a few tag teams who could get the SmackDown Tag Team titles it appears that they included a couple that haven’t really worked much as a tandem.

The B Team, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev, Heavy Machinery, Finn Balor & Ali, Shane McMahon & Elias, and Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods are all listed. This is very interesting indeed considering the fact that the IWC has been rumbling with a rumor that Shane McMahon might put the titles on himself.

If WWE went this direction to crown McMahon and Elias with the titles, it would be smart in the sense that it is much easier to get a crowd to boo than cheer a decision.

We will have to wait and see what happens next, but Shane McMahon and Elias could very well be walking out of SmackDown Live as new heel champions unless this is just a ploy to set up an even bigger match at Money In The Bank.
