Why WWE Booked Rumored WrestleMania Match At House Show

Daniel Bryan is WWE Champion, but he doesn’t have to make every city that WWE travels to. Therefore, some fans had a big surprise when they got to see AJ Styles take on Randy Orton in the main event of their house show. This is match that we have heard is in strong consideration for a spotlight at WrestleMania.

Dave Meltzer explained during Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE made a decision to put on Randy Orton vs AJ Styles because Daniel Bryan wasn’t going to be around.

“AJ and Randy Orton are doing a lot of house shows when Daniel Bryan is not on tour which includes this weekend. That’s what they’re doing as the main event so AJ is wrestling this weekend.”

Daniel Bryan was able to get fewer dates with his new contract. This was something that he not only wanted, but he also needed and deserved. As WWE Champion, it might be disappointing for some fans that they didn’t get to see Bryan’s new wooden and hemp WWE Title, but getting The Viper vs The Phenomenal One was a great consolation.
