WWE has some big promises to fulfill after Vince McMahon came out on RAW and said they were going into “New Era.” This promise included several NXT call-ups, but apparently, that was always the plan.
Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live that WWE’s plan to call up the six Superstars was actually on the agenda anyway. They just had to act quicker than they first planned due to the fact that Vince McMahon decided that he was going to make a big announcement on RAW this week.

“All of the various call-ups. Every call-up that was announced last night on RAW. I am told that they were scheduled to be called up in January and they just bumped it forward because they wanted to do a show where Vince McMahon came out and turned everything around.”
“So it’s not like these people weren’t going to be called up. They were always going to be called up. They just happened to be called up early as part of the storyline that they’re turning things around.”

When WWE has plans they sometimes pull the trigger on some things earlier if needed. It seems like this new crop of NXT call-ups is another instance of that happening. We just have to wonder if they were going to call up Lars Sullivan, EC3, Lacey Evans, Heavy Machinery, and Nikki Cross anyway, then who could they still be saving back if we’re going to expect more NXT call-ups anytime soon?
