Becky Lynch moved to Canada to pursue pro wrestling because there was more going on there than in her homeland of Ireland. Her visa ran out and she got injured so she moved back to Ireland. The Man had a seven-year break in her pro wrestling career after suffering an injury early on. She worked as a stuntwoman among other jobs including working at a call center for “maybe two days.”
As Lynch told E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, she took some time off from pro wrestling and then became a stuntwoman on the television show Vikings.
Edge said that staff members told him to tell Becky “Hi” when he came aboard and started acting on the show. It was thanks to advice given to her at a wrestling training school that encouraged Becky Lynch to give up being a stuntwoman for more of a role in the spotlight.

“I went down to a wrestling school and my love and passion hadn’t died and the guy teaching the school goes, ‘Look, have you ever thought about having a tryout? Because you clearly love this and I think you’d get it.”
“I was like, ‘Well, you know I’m doing this thing — I’m a stuntwoman apparently — I had like a visa booked for America and I was going to go to New York and do all these things, that’s my plan.”
“He’s like, ‘Well, I think you’d get it so let me know,’ and then in like two seconds I was like, ‘Yep, that’s what I’m gonna do. I’ve got to do that. I’ve got unfinished business and I have to go back.'”

When the time finally came for Becky Lynch to get her WWE tryout at the legendary Performance Center, she had one song playing in her mind to help her out: Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” from the 2002 film 8-Mile.

“So I went along for a tryout and I knew there was no way in Hell that life was going to give me this opportunity and I wasn’t going to take it and I wasn’t going to get it. I just remember going there without a doubt in my mind that I’m getting this. Because it just felt way too serendipitous and way too meant to be to not materialize.”
“So I went along and I remember singing Eminem in my head the whole time, ‘Lose Yourself,’ you know? Every time those drills would get hard I’d be like, ‘You only got one shot,’ and then I got signed and then I got brought over to Orlando.”

Becky Lynch obviously owned the moment and never let it go. She is now one of the top names in WWE because she knew that opportunity would only come once in a lifetime.
Thanks to a lot of hard work and a little motivation from Slim Shady, Lynch was able to impress the WWE Performance Center staff enough to earn a spot. Since the head coach at that time was Bill Demott, that’s saying something.
Lynch figured out who she was as a performer and found herself in the process. She felt ashamed for stepping away from pro wrestling for seven years, but that didn’t stop her from working as hard as she could which is something that hasn’t changed.
