WWE Crown Jewel was an event we won’t be forgetting for a very long time and the reasons could be various. The WWE Saudi Universe loved having the show in their country though, but they were very saddened about Roman Reigns not being able to make the trip.
Since Reigns’ announcement that his leukemia is out of remission and he had to take time away from the ring in order to beat the disease again, he was pulled out of his scheduled WWE Crown Jewel Universal Title defense.
We exclusively reported that before the event kicked off, fans were running around with “Thank You Roman” signs and the crowd started chanting for The Big Dog — but it turns out that was all part of the show.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the signs were handed out before the show in an attempt to get this chant going. The idea was that the chants would be taped and spliced over the actual event however that never took place.
There were, however, plenty of “We want Lana” chants during the US Title match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev during the kickoff show. Therefore, the Saudi Arabian fans obviously know what female talent they were missing out on.
